Bangladesh announce T20 World Cup squad, Najmul Hossain to captain despite Shakib al Hasan’s return

Bangladesh are placed in Group D alongside South Africa, Sri Lanka, Netherlands and Nepal in the T20 World Cup 2024

Bangladesh have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. The side, led by skipper Najmul Hossain, will see the return of former captain Shakib al Hasan – who has been on the sidelines since ODI World Cup in 2023. Bangladesh will head into the World Cup, riding on a series victory against Zimbabwe.

Bangladesh are placed in Group D alongside South Africa, Sri Lanka, Netherlands and Nepal. Bangladesh will kick-start their campaign against Sri Lanka on June 7 (Friday). On the other hand, the Bangla Tigers will face Nepal in their final group stage match of the T20 World Cup on June 16 (Sunday).
