BAN beat AUS 3rd T20I: Mahmudullah-led Bangladesh defeats Australia for 1st time in T20I series, takes 3-0 lead: After defeating Australia by 10 runs in the third T20I, Bangladesh won its first-ever T20I series against the Kangaroos. As they register a victory in the third contest, the Tigers took an unassailable lead of 3-0 in the five-match T20I series against Australia.

A low scoring match was indeed a thriller that saw fine bowling from both sides. The visitors, during their chase of 128 runs, troubled to muster runs against the Bangladesh bowlers. After losing opener cum skipper- Matthew Wade (1) early, Mitchell Marsh (51) and Ben McDermott (35) lent 50+ run partnership between them. But it was evident that McDermott had a tough time facing the hosts and played with a slow strike rate. After Moises Henriques’s (2) dismissal, Alex Cary and Daniel Christian tried to pull off the game but it was too late to make any amends.

Among the hosts, Shoriful Islam rattled two wickets but the likes of Mustafizur Rahman, Nasum Ahmed and Shakib Al Hasan were highly economical who returned with impressive economies of 2.2, 4.8, and 5.5 respectively.

Mahmudullah led Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first in the third T20I against Australia at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. Hosts decision to bat first seems to have backfired as they lost both their openers- Naim Sheikh (1) and Soumya Sarkar (2) quite early in successive deliveries. Barring Bangladesh skipper- Mahmudullah’s fifty run knock (52), the rest of the Tigers unit nearly collapsed.

Among the Australian bowlers, Nathan Ellis rattled three wickets but was comparatively expensive with the ball. Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa each of whom claimed two wickets each returned with an economy of 4 and 6 respectively.
