Bad news for CSK! Devon Conway to miss start of IPL due to thumb surgery

Chennai Super Kings will be hoping to find a suitable replacement for the initial stages of the IPL 2024 and will aim to have Conway back in their ranks as soon as possible.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans were dealt a blow today with the news that star batsman Devon Conway will miss the initial stages of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) due to thumb surgery.

Devon Conway: Injury and recovery timeline

Devon Conway sustained a small fracture in his left thumb during the second T20I against Australia.

The surgery will keep him out of action for eight weeks, meaning he’s unlikely to be available for CSK until May.

Impact on CSK:

This is a significant setback for CSK, as Conway was expected to be a key player in their batting lineup. He has been in good form recently, scoring a century against England in a Test match earlier this year.

Looking Forward: IPL 2024

Despite the absence, there is some positive news for Devon Conway and CSK fans. He is expected to be fit for the T20 World Cup in June, suggesting a successful recovery. Chennai Super Kings will be hoping to find a suitable replacement for the initial stages of the IPL 2024 and will aim to have Conway back in their ranks as soon as possible.

CSK Training camp for IPL 2024

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) training camp began on last week with Deepak Chahar in attendance. The team captain, MS Dhoni, is yet to join, having attended a pre-wedding function of Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Indian business tycoon Mukesh Ambani.

CSK’s IPL season starts against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22nd.
