Former Pakistan selector Mohammad Wasim revealed his struggles with Babat Azam as the white-ball skipper and claimed that the batter was very stubborn. Wasim was the chief selector when Azam captained the ODI and T20I sides, including in the ODI World Cup 2023. The former Pakistan cricketer spilled the beans on his equation with Babar and said that the star was very hard to work with.
‘Babar Azam was very stubborn’
“It was painful to make him understand the advantages of changes. He was very stubborn, and I overstepped my limitations to get him on board with certain calls. He was not ready to accept changes,” Wasim told a local platform, as per Cricket Pakistan.
Babar Azam has been under fire ever since 2023. Under his leadership, Pakistan were knocked out of the ODI World Cup which was held in India. He was then replaced with Shaheen Afridi as the T20I skipper only to be handed the captaincy back before the T20 World Cup. Not that he tasted success at the marquee event as Pakistan were knocked out of the tournament in the group stage.
