Babar Azam slaps Mohd. Asif’s remark over the park, scores at 150+ S/R in WC warm-up

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Asif recently claimed that he can still bowl a maiden over to Babar Azam.

Action speaks louder than words! That’s exactly what Babar Azam did when he played a stunning 59-ball 90 runs knock in PAK vs AUS World Cup warm-up game on Tuesday. The Pakistan skipper hit back at former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Asif who claimed that he could bowl a maiden over to the star batter.

Chasing a mammoth 352, Babar scored a stunning 90 before retiring out to give other batters to play in the pressure situation. The 28-year-old scored at a strike rate of over 150 and put Asif’s claim of ‘playing at a low strike rate’ to dust.

Babar’s innings included 11 boundaries and 2 sixes as he tear apart Australian bowling line-up to put Pakistan in a commanding position in a tough chase.

Earlier, Babar Azam’s father, Azam Siddiqui, had issued a reponse to Asif on his controversial remark.

In a post he shared on Instagram, Babar’s father mentioned that every person is responsible for their actions.

“Dear Mr. Mohammad Asif, every individual is responsible for their actions. If such a time comes, Babar will gladly play a maiden over against you in order to show you respect” Azam Siddiqui mentioned in his post.

Notably, Asif questioned Babar Azam’s T20I batting and said that the batter cannot hit the ball if you bowl good deliveries to him.

“I selected Babar Azam in the trials after he faced two balls only, you can ask his father that I picked Babar in ZTBL trials. He is one of the best batters in the country but he plays dots in the power-play and puts pressure on Rizwan. I can bowl a maiden over to Babar Azam in T20 cricket even today, he cannot hit the ball if you bowl good deliveries to him,” Asif said on X space.
