Former Pakistan cricketer Zaheer Abbas has reckoned that an out of form Babar Azam should be dropped for the upcoming PAK vs ENG Test series. His suggestion comes amid the former Pakistan skipper’s lean run with the bat over the past one year. Pakistan will take on England in a Test series that home that commences from October 7.
‘Babar Azam should be dropped’
Speaking at the Cricket Predicta Conclave in the UAE, Abbas minced no words in recommending Babar to be left out of the XI. He cited Azam’s poor form to justify his call. Additionally, he admitted that both the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the men’s cricket team had to pull up their socks and that their performance wasn’t up to the mark.
“Babar Azam should be dropped from the team,” Abbas said at the event. “If he’s not scoring runs, because if he’s our main batsman and he’s out of form, he should be out of the team.”

Further, Abbas claimed that Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli was far ahead of Babar Azam and that the two shouldn’t be compared. He said that while King Kohli scored in every match, Babar never managed to score in any game and that it was baseless to compare the two batters.
“Yeh fizool ki baatein hai. Virat Kohli scores in every match, the other player (Babar) doesn’t score in any match, so then how can you compare? The person who scores, he is the bigger player,” Abbas added.
