Babar Azam Records: What has the Pakistan skipper achieved in his career so far?

Babar the batter has excelled in all formats of the games, having reached the pinnacle of the top ranking in white ball cricket and the 4th spot in Tests. We have seen Babar grow in stature as the years have gone by. However, what are Babar Azam’s records in international cricket and where does he find himself when comparing him to other greats of the game?

Babar Azam Records in T20

Babar holds several records in T20, a format he’s dominated ever since his debut in 2016. He is the 4th highest run-getter in T20Is (3485 runs) behind greats like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The right-hander has the 2nd most fifties in T20Is (33), just 5 behind Kohli.

However, Babar’s best record is being the fastest player to score 2000, 2500, and 3000 runs in T20Is. Apart from these, the Lahore-born cricketer has the 2nd most Man of the Series awards and has captained his side in 71 matches (4th most).

Babar Azam Records in ODI

Babar has the 5th highest average of all time in ODI cricket. He is the fastest player to score 5,000 ODI runs and is in the top 5 quickest players to score 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000 ODI runs.

He currently has the 2nd most ODI centuries for Pakistan (19 in 113 matches), behind just Saeed Anwar, who has 20 in 247 matches.

Babar’s record in Test cricket isn’t that great, however, he is one of four Pakistan captains to have a win percentage of 50% or more. Currently, he is ranked 15th in the most runs list for Pakistan (3772 runs) and 17th in players with the most centuries for Pakistan (9). He is also 12th when it comes to the best average (47.74) for the Men in Green in the longest format of the game.
