Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 is set to begin from Saturday, February 17. The opening match of the tournament will be played between the defending champs Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United. The former Pakistan captain comes under the Platinum category, and was traded at the season salary of $1,50,000 or PKR 3,60,00000.
The Pakistani captain debuted for the Islamabad team in 2016 in the Silver Category, earning a maximum pay of US$25,000, or roughly INR 20 lakh. Babar continued to go up the price ladder gradually with his national team’s performances.
He was drafted in the second season of the PSL in the Gold category (USD 50,000 or INR 40 Lakh), but in the third edition, he advanced to the Silver category with a pay cap of roughly USD 70,000 or INR 56 Lakh.
In 2019, he advanced to the platinum level, earning him a salary of $130,000 (about INR 1.03 crore). Since then, he has been included in the group of players with the highest wage cap, which is currently above INR 1 crore.
