Babar Azam prays ‘long distance’ coach Gary Kirsten is ‘beneficial’ for Pakistan team

Gary Kirsten was roped in as Pakistan's new white-ball coach for a period of two years ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is hopeful of new coach Gary Kirsten bringing positives to the side ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. In the latest series of overhauls executed by PCB, the Men in Green got a new coach who is none other than former India coach Kirsten. Babar claims that the Proteas star has been discussing the strategy for the marquee event with the team management, despite being a part of IPL as LSG’s coach.

Babar Azam’s high hopes from Gary Kirsten

He (Kirsten) is a very experienced coach, and his presence should be beneficial for us all. He is already taking a lot of interest in the planning for the World Cup and discussing strategy with the team management,” Babar says.

“He (Kirsten) shares his plans with us, discussions are happening with coaches about our planning, and we update him on net practice plans, like how the bowling practice went today,” he adds.

Pakistan’s plans for Virat Kohli

Further, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam confirmed that the team will indeed formulate plans to tackle the Virat Kohli menace. Pakistan and India will lock horns in the T20 World Cup in New York on June 9.

The thing is, we plan against all eleven players of a team, and we don’t know much about how the conditions will be in New York. But yes, he [Kohli] is one of the best players, and we will plan against him as well,” Babar said.
