Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar spared no words in his critique of Babar Azam and the Pakistan cricket team after their resounding six-wicket loss to India in the Champions Trophy 2025. During the show ‘Game On Hai’, Shoaib Akhtar openly criticized Babar’s approach and questioned his choice of inspiration. Such was the depth of his disappointment with Pakistan’s performance that he confessed he had no interest in discussing the team further.
“We always compare Babar Azam to Virat Kohli. Now tell me who is hero of Virat Kohli? Sachin Tendulkar and he has scored 100 centuries and Virat is chasing his legacy. Who is Babar Azam’s hero? Tuk tuk (no mention of cricketer he is referring to). You have picked the wrong heroes. Your thought process is wrong,” Shoaib Akhtar said on the show.

You were a fraud from the beginning. I would not even wish to talk about Pakistan cricket team. I am only dong this because I am getting paid.” Akhtar added.
After Pakistan posted a total of 241, thanks to notable contributions from Khushdil Shah and Saud Shakeel, Babar Azam fell short with the bat, managing only 23 runs off 26 balls. On the other hand, India, the ‘Men in Blue’, dominated the run-chase. Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma gave a solid start, while Virat Kohli anchored the innings with a milestone knock.
