Babar Azam & Co. to get huge pay cheque despite failing to make World Cup semis

Pakistan cricket team won only four matches from their nine encounters in the ICC World Cup 2023, but still will be richer by USD 260,000.

After a million permutations and combinations by the fans and cricket experts, the Pakistan cricket team finally exited the ICC World Cup 2023 after their loss to England recently. Once again, the team led by Babar Azam failed to live up to the expectations and crashed out of the tournament without making it to the playoffs.

It was a campaign marked by poor leadership, poor individual performances, and controversies. The Pakistani team that came into the World Cup with a lot of expectations, found their campaign getting derailed after a massive loss to India. Post that, it was only a story of disappointments.

Something to Cheer About for Babar Azam & Pakistan Cricket Team

While Pakistan might have failed miserably to perform on the field, they are all set to get richer by a massive USD 260,000, which roughly means PKR 73341580. As per the ICC, the winners of each match in the group stage will receive US$40,000. To add to that, each team that bows out of the World Cup before reaching the semis will get a sum of $100,000.

The cricket World Cup prize money is set at USD 4 million, followed by USD 2 million for the runners-up. Each semi-finalist will also get USD 800,000.
