Ayush Badoni named Delhi captain in Ranji Trophy as Himmat Singh gets the axe

Himmat Singh has been axed as Delhi captain after the fourth round Ranji Trophy match and has been replaced by Ayush Badoni

Ayush Badoni has been named Delhi cricket team’s new captain ahead of the fifth round Ranji Trophy game. The batter replaces Himmat Singh as skipper after Delhi’s defeat at the hands of Chandigarh in the 4th round. Ayush Badoni will lead the side in his first assignment as skipper in the game against Jharkhand.

Himmat Singh was sacked as the Delhi captain after a 9-wicket loss to Chandigarh. His performance as a batter has been poor so far, having managed to score just 182 runs in 6 innings. Ayush Badoni has now been handed over the reins of the side as Delhi attempt to reverse their fortunes in the ongoing season. Delhi are currently fourth on the points table in Group D.

Delhi makes changes to Ranji Trophy squad

Yash Dhull has been named Ayush Badoni’s deputy and has been rewarded for his consistent performances so far. He was the skipper during the 2022-23 season but was sacked in the following year following Delhi’s loss in the season opener. Hrithik Shokeen, Shivank Vashishth and Khsitiz Sharma have been left out of the 18-member squad. Instead, Simrajeet Singh, Mayank Gusain and Shivam Sharma have been named as replacements.
