Axar Patel reveals how Playing to the strengths helped India outclass Sri Lanka in IND vs SL 1st T20I

IND vs SL: Axar Patel discusses about the importance of playing to his strengths and how core setup of Team India remains same with new head coach & captaincy change

Talk about turning the game in an over. India’s ace spinner Axar Patel yet again proved why he is such a crucial asset for the team. Bagging the wickets of set batters, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera, Axar’s dual blow triggered a collapse which the hosts were unable to recover from.

“When you continue playing for Team India there is a surety that you get confidence when you play well in pressure situations. This confidence helps me in playing to my strengths and remaining calm. The confidence of playing well especially in the T20 World Cup also gets carried forward,” Axar said in the post match press conference.

Not much changes in Core setup of Team India

The IND vs SL series saw a new dawn of cricket for Indian Cricket Team. The Gautam Gambhir era started as did Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy reign. But Axar went on to reveal that nothing much has changed as the core setup of the team always remains intact.

Axar further went on to reveal that there was not much pressure on team India despite Sri Lanka getting a good start. He claimed that due to the moisture and coldness in the weather, the game got better. He said that India knew a wicket here and there could help in striking a collapse and that is what happened.

“No there hasn’t been much of a change in the team. Coaches and captains change, but the team remains the same. The thinking and the inputs can be different for each coaches, but the game remains the same. Surya gives free hand to the bowlers and backs the bowlers. There hasn’t been much of a difference now. With the captain backing you, it gives you the confidence,” Axar concluded.
