Axar Patel reveals how he plotted tracer bullet direct hit to get rid of Imam-ul-Haq, unsettled Rizwan

Axar Patel shed light on how he had plotted Imam-ul-Haq and Rizwan's dismissal in India vs Pakistan clash in Champions Trophy

India cricket team star Axar Patel spilled the beans on how he had visualized Imam-ul-Haq’s run-out just a ball before his dismissal. The all-rounder conjured a brilliant direct hit to get rid of the Pakistan opener, providing India with with a quick second breakthrough. Axar was very happy with his work on the field in the contest against Pakistan, acknowledging that he was involved in run-outs and catches on the field.

How Axar plotted Imam, Rizwan’s dismissals

In a video uploaded by ICC on social media platform X, Axar revealed how he had plotted Imam-ul-Haq’s dismissal in Dubai. The all-rounder said that he had watched videos of the batter attempting to take singles in the area that he was fielding in previously. He said that he had visualized the run-out a delivery before and executed it to perfection aptly.

I think, when I came on to bowl in the powerplay, he (Imam) took a single through the mid-off where Harshit Rana was fielding. I thought in his plans, I had seen videos of his where he steps out looking for singles. The ball before, I was visualizing that he may look for a single and I can affect a direct hit. I was a few steps behind but I charged in. The same movement happened and I was able to make a direct hit. After it happened, I thought it was good that I visualised it a ball before,” Axar Patel said.

Further, Patel shed light on how he got rid of Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan. The batter, who had taken 77 deliveries to get to 46 runs, looked highly unsettled. He was castled by Axar in the second delivery of the 34th over. Speaking about the dismissal, the all-rounder said that he had bowled a slower ball as he had not anticipated Rizwan to charge down the track that early in the over.
