The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced a 15-member squad for the five-match IND vs AUS T20I series beginning on November 23. All-rounder Axar Patel, who missed out on World Cup squad after sustaining an injury, has returned for the T20Is. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav, who was also part of India’s World Cup campaign, will lead the Indian side.
Star players including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and KL Rahul have been rested after a gruelling World Cup campaign.
Indian batter Shreyas Iyer has also been rested for the first three T20Is. The star batter will join the squad as vice-captain for the last two T20Is in Raipur and Bengaluru.
India squad for Australia T20Is: Hardik Pandya ruled out
Star India all-rounder Hardik Pandya is absent from the T20I series between India and Australia due to an ankle injury. The injury occurred during India’s league stage World Cup match against Bangladesh on October 19, which ruled him out from the tournament as he couldn’t recover in time.
The BCCI medical staff recommended a six to eight-week rest for Pandya after the ankle twist. Although there were initial hopes for his return in India’s last league match against Netherlands on November 12, his inability to regain fitness resulted in his replacement by Prasidh Krishna in the Indian squad.
The series is scheduled to commence on November 23 in Visakhapatnam and conclude on December 3 in Bengaluru. Moreover, the remaining three matches are set to be held on November 26 in Thiruvananthapuram, November 28 in Guwahati, and December 1 in Nagpur.
