Australia’s World Cup 2023 campaign might be in danger. Their backbone and former skipper Steve Smith may not be available for the crucial AUS vs AFG match on November 7. The star batter felt uncomfortable while batting in the nets and stopped his practice midway to rest. Apparently, Smith was suffering from vertigo.
The batter, who is known for never missing practice and his long and arduous batting drills, may miss the coming match and put Australia in jeopardy. Someone who follows Steve Smith and the Australian side as a whole very closely, Bharat Sundaresan, mentioned the difficulty Smith had faced and even went on to say that this could be a worrying sign for the Aussie camp.
In the pre-match press conference on Monday, a day before the match, Smith said, “I’ve had a bit of vertigo stuff the last day or so… not feeling great”.
“It’s just been a bit annoying, so hopefully I can get through training today and be all good. It’s not a nice place to be.
“I’ve had a few episodes, so I can tell you it’s not the funnest space to be in.
“I’ll go out and have a hit and hopefully be okay. We’ll see how we go,”, Steve Smith said about his chances for the AUS vs AFG match.

While Australia won their last clash against England, injury and availability have troubled them a great deal throughout the World Cup. Their opener, Travis Head, had missed the first half of the event, and Marcus Stoinis was nursing a niggle.
Then, as they got their full side back, Mitchell Marsh had to fly back home due to a personal reason, and Glenn Maxwell was concussed after a freak golf accident.
Now that they have fully recovered, their premier batter, Steve Smith, may be unavailable for the upcoming games.
