Australian pace legend Glenn McGrath recently conducted a two-day training camp for Saurashtra’s bowlers in Rajkot. As part of his association with the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai, McGrath mentored 25 young pacers, sharing all the tips on modern bowling techniques. Held on April 24 and 25, the camp aimed to expose bowlers to world-class methods, according to Shah. Sessions saw participation from players across all levels, including Under-19, Under-23, and Ranji Trophy cricketers. Also, state coaches, physios, and trainers also attended the camp to enhance their knowledge. The camp was held at Niranjan Shah Stadium in the Saurashtra city.
“Grateful for McGrath’s thoughtful gesture,” says SCA president Jaydev Shah
“It was kind of him to visit Rajkot. He spent two days with our bowlers and coaches, and I sincerely thank him for taking the time and making such a thoughtful gesture,” said Jaydev Shah, president of the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA), told to Cricbuzz.
There is no doubt about the big impact this programme will have on all the bowlers. This is not the first time we have seen this Aussie legend helping pacers. There have been several instances where this former pacer has assisted Indian bowlers. Speaking of McGrath, his stats are enough to showcase his greatness. In Australia, he played 124 Tests, claiming 563 wickets, and in 250 ODIs, he took 381 wickets.
