WTC Final: 2023 The Australian team on Sunday celebrated a historical win as they became the first team to win all major ICC tournaments after clinching the World Test Championship (WTC) title. Needing 444, Team India got bundled out for 234 on Day 5 of the WTC final to hand the Aussies their 9th ICC title.
Nathan Lyon claimed the final wicket to secure the coveted World Test Championship title. As soon as the catch was taken, the whole team along with the reserved players ran towards the veteran spinner to hug.
Australia delivered a resounding victory in the World Test Championship final at The Oval on Sunday, thanks to Scott Boland’s brilliant performance that led to a dramatic collapse for India. Chasing 444 runs, India began Day 5 at 164-3. While Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane looked confident at the beginning, Boland’s over changed the fortunes quickly as Team India lost two wickets in one over. The side then crumbled under pressure, losing seven wickets for a mere 70 runs in just 24 overs before lunch on the final day.

While, Scott Boland picked 3 wickets and played a pivotal role in dismantling India’s batting order, off-spinner Nathan Lyon effectively wrapped up the match by claiming four wickets for 41 runs.
