Australia national selectors today (January 11) confirmed an 18-player squad for the four-Test Border-Gavaskar series.

In addition to Matthew Renshaw, Peter Handscomb is also in the position to be called up for a Test match for the first time since January 2019.

Since Mitchell Starc will not join the team until after the first Test in Nagpur while he recovers from tendon injuries to his left middle finger, Lance Morris, the 2022–23 Shield’s highest wicket-taker after six rounds, keeps his spot in the team and may get the chance to make his international debut.

After breaking his right index finger during the Boxing Day Test against South Africa, all-rounder Cameron Green is also battling against time to be ready for the first Test.

Australia and India will play four Test matches in less than five weeks at Nagpur, Delhi, Dharamsala, and Ahmedabad. Following a notable 2-1 victory in 2004, the tourists are attempting to win just their second series in the country in the last 50 years.

Aussies have only won one Test match out of their last four series in India.
