Attention shifts to the T20 World Cup 2024 for World Champions Australia as they take on India in the first T20I in Vishakapatnam on November 23. Regular T20 skipper Mitchell Marsh has been rested for the five matches. Matthew Wade will lead the side in the all-rounder’s absence. Apart from Marsh, Australia have also rested Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc. In the trio’s absence, Jason Behrendorff will lead the pace attack. In Marsh’s absence, Tim David will play as a finisher role.
Behrendorff will be supported by Nathan Ellis, Tanveer Sangha, Sean Abbot and Adazm Zampa. While the pace attack slightly boasts of an inexperienced look, Australia does have enough firepower. The batting looks much sorted with the experience of David Warner and Steve Smith at the top. By the looks of it, Smith is likely to open the innings along with Warner after his super success as an opening batter in last year’s BBL.
The middle order will boast of the same look, with Maxwell, Stoinis, and Wade in it. Zampa will likely lead the spin attack. Australia also have Tanveer Sangha in the team.
