Notably, Inglis has been in fine form for the Australian team. He has scored a minimum of 20 runs in all of his last six appearances for the Kangaroos, which includes two knocks in the forties. Hence, his inclusion is pretty understandable.

What is rather surprising is the axing of pacer Jhye Richardson, but chief selector George Bailey has said that this has been done so as to manage the workload of the 25-year-old, whose career has been jolted by injuries time and again so far. Besides Jhye, another speedster in Kane Richardson has also been axed from the team.
Both Jhye Richardson and Kane Richardson have been axed“We believe this group provides us great coverage and versatility across all formats while others, as we saw in the past year, will continue to get opportunities to play a big part,” said Bailey.
Australia’s next assignment is against Sri Lanka, which will be followed by the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup at home. Speaking on their packed schedule, Bailey further added “With a tour of Sri Lanka, a home World Cup, home summer and tour of India there is an enormous amount of cricket to be played where the strength of our squads and depth will be challenged.”
