Australia has been great in the last few matches during the World Cup 2023 and looks all set to make it to the semis of the tournament. Their team has displayed tremendous fitness during the World Cup, which is a part of the reason for their success. Star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis is one of the fittest in their ranks and has found a unique way to keep his fitness standards up in India.
As per various media reports, Stoinis is traveling with a personal chef and is sticking to a strict keto diet, which is low in carbs generally. In fact, one of his preferred food is baked oats, which has high protein content. The report further suggests that Marcus Stoinis is traveling with Mumbai chef Velton Saldanha, whose expertise is French cuisine.
Their association goes back to the IPL, where KL Rahul introduced him to the chef. “Quite a few of the Indian boys do it, that’s where I got the idea. I’ve always been quite strict with my food and all that stuff in my preparation. Garlic naan is out. Gluten-free banana bread and shepherd’s pie with roasted cauliflower mash are in. A roast butter chicken, the intersection of Saldanha’s French training and his Indian heritage, has also been a hit,” Stoinis told cricket.com.au’s Unplayable Podcast.
“Stoinis is getting by on baked oats — at least for the small carbohydrate portion of his meticulously curated diet. By the end of the World Cup, Saldanha might be able to sell the ‘Stoinis Oats’ as a standalone dish,” the report said.
Meanwhile, Stoinis has been far from impressive this World Cup. He has only bagged two wickets in the tournament so far and scored 46 runs in all.
