Australia wicketkeeper Josh Inglis was involved in a hilarious yet horrible mix-up on the field in AUS vs WI 1st ODI. The keeper failed a run-out attempt despite the batter being miles away from the crease. The incident left Inglis ponder how could he even miss the chance, with a smile on his face expressing the very same.
AUS vs WI: Josh Inglis misses easiest run-out opportunity
The incident occurred in the 46th over of the match as West Indies batter first in the game at Melbourne. Travis Head made a brilliant save, putting in a dive following which threw the ball to Inglis who was near the stumps. What happened next was baffling! Inglis miserably failed in dislodging the bails despite putting in a dive too.
Batting first, West Indies managed to put up 231 runs on board before they were bowled out. Kaecy Carty (88) was the top-scorer for the side, having just narrowly missed out on a well-deserved century. Roston Chase chipped in too, with a handy 59-run knock as the middle order failed to fire.
Australia debutant Xavier Bartlett took four scalps while Sean Abott and Cameron Green grabbed two wickets each. Australia will now have to chase down 232 runs in 50 overs, as they attempt to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
