AUS vs PAK: Rizwan could have emulated Pant but Pakistan wicketkeeper falls short

Mohammad Rizwan narrowly missed out on emulating Rishabh Pant in Australia after he was dismissed for 88 runs in 3rd AUS vs PAK Test

Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan narrowly missed out on a unique feat as he was trapped by Pat Cummins in the 3rd PAK vs AUS Test. The keeper-batter could have become the only 2nd Asian wicketkeeper to register a three-figure score on Australian soil, had he reached his century.

AUS vs PAK: Rizwan falls short of emulating Pant

India’s Rishabh Pant, to date, remains the only Asian wicketkeeper to have a three-figure score in Australian soil in Tests. The swashbuckling southpaw scored an unbeaten 159-run knock at the same venue in January 2019. With Rizwan being dismissed for 88 runs, he fell short of emulating Pant and putting his name on the record books as well.

Rizwan held his nerves to provide a strong fightback for Pakistan after an early collapse in the 1st innings. Opting to bat first, the visitors collapsed like a pack of cards before Rizwan took charge. After a demonizing first session, the wicketkeeper-batter led the charge as Pakistan enjoyed a strong 2nd session. However, the keeper was trapped by Pat Cummins yet again, bringing the curtains down on his fighting innings.
