According to the Bureau of Meteorology on Saturday there are high chances of rain in Sydney. It will remain partly cloudy throughout the day. Very high (95%) chance of showers, most likely in the afternoon and evening. There is also a chance of a thunderstorm, possibly severe. Winds will flow from north to northeasterly at 20 to 30 km/h.

Things are so severe in Sydney at the moment that the Bureau of Meteorology is warning that Hawkesbury and Nepean rivers may flood again after forecasting pointed to heavy rain over the Sydney basin on Friday and into the weekend as per the Sydney Morning Herald.

Elsewhere in the state, almost every river system west of the Dividing Range is in flood and there are eight emergency warnings. Meanwhile, a major flood is expected to affect the state’s south, the bureau has warned.

If rain doesn’t play the spoilsport, hosts Australia will begin their title defence at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in front of a capacity crowd at the Sydney Cricket Ground, with the opening Super 12 clash officially declared a sell-out.

AUS vs NZ LIVE: Pitch Report

The SCG frequently provides batters with a decent opportunity to rack up some fast runs in T20Is. The pitch plays a bit slower than at the MCG, Gabba, or Perth, where the ball receives a significant amount of bounce and carry. At SCG, the spinners are more optimistic about their chances. It is perhaps the most prominent Australian location that tweakers enjoy rolling their arms over.
