Australia will kick off their World Cup preparation by playing against Netherlands in the warm-up game today in Thiruvananthapuram. Pat Cummins & Co are coming off an ODI series loss against India, while Netherlands have spent more than one month in India to prepare for the showpiece event. The Dutch qualified for the showpiece event by coming runners up.
The Scott Edwards-led side have played some good cricket in the past 12 months, managing to beat the likes of Zimbabwe, and Scotland, and also upsetting South Africa in the T20 WC last year. The Dutch have some very good players in the form of Bas de Leede, Vikarmjit Singh, and Paul van Meekeren. Skipper Edwards is also in good form and Australia certainly won’t underestimate Netherlands by any means.

AUS vs NED: Pat Cummins & Co aim to test team combination & strategies against Netherlands
Against the India series, Australia were hampered by injuries due to key players like Travis Head, Starc, and Maxwell. While the other two AUS players returned for the third ODI, Head is ruled out of the at least first half of the WC. Mitchell Marsh will open with David Warner, with Steve Smith and Labuschagne slotting in at number three and four respectively.
One problem Australia has is whom to play all-rounders. They have a plethora of options in Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Marsh, and Maxwell in the team. Bowling is fairly sorted with Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins, & Zampa.
