AUS SA Pitch Report: Australia aim to strike a decisive blow on bowling beauty Gabba pitch – This is the first time Australia and South Africa will face each other after the Sandpaper Gate in 2018. The hosts are naturally seeking revenge and want to strike a decisive blow. Australia’s bowling is one of the best in the world, with Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, & Nathan Lyon taking over 200 Test wickets.

By preparing a green monster surface, Australia wants to attack from word go and dismantle South Africa’s s fragile batting lineup. The visitors, though have a fearsome pace attack of their own, with Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, & Marco Jansen all cranking speeds of 140 plus. Elgar expects a lot of spice between AUS & SA in the three-match Test series.

“The competitive nature is very similar. We both want to go out and win and play a brand of cricket that our countries are proud of.

“It was extremely juicy (in 2018), even building up to that (ball-tampering) game in Cape Town. It was interesting times, let‘s put it that way. Hopefully, that’s been put to bed now.

“Hopefully, there‘s no antics going on the field that no one gets busted for. It was sad to see those events unfold.”

AUS SA Pitch Report: Why green monster has been prepared for Elgar-led South Africa?

  • Australia want to dominate South Africa and have one foot in the WTC finals table.
  • A win for Australia will guarantee them WTC final place. The hosts’ bowlers are also in good form, with Cummins, Starc, and Boland among the wickets.
  • Proteas batting is pretty weak, with only Elgar having a considerable amount of experience playing in Australia.
  • Temba Bavuma is woefully out of form, and Rassie van der Dussan is coming from an injury layoff.
  • Australia bowlers can easily dominate a fragile-looking Proteas batting lineup.
  • The hosts have a powerful batting line-up and feel they can also survive on a green monster Gabba pitch.
