AUS vs SA Highlights – Australia vs South Africa: The Day 2 of Gabba Test was all about bowlers dominating the proceedings. A total of 19 wickets fell within three sessions as Australia beat South Africa by 6 wickets in the first Test in Brisbane. The day started with Australia looking to consolidate in their first innings, but were all out for 218, taking 66 run lead in the 1st innings. In the second innings, South Africa was bundled out for 99, with Starc taking his 300th Test wicket in the process. He became only the seventh Australian bowler and the 5th pacer to bag 300 Test wickets. Though South Africa picked up 4 wickets, but a target of 34 runs was never going to bother Australia, as they registered 6 wicket win over the Proteas.. AUS vs SA Highlights: Pat Cummins takes fifer as Australia beat South Africa by 6 wickets in 2 days in Brisbane Test: Watch Australia vs South Africa HIGHLIGHTS

Had Smith and night watch Scott Boland not lost their wickets in the final two overs as Proteas quick Anrich Nortje surged past 150kph, the victory for the hosts would have been more convincing.

The hosts were in trouble when they lost opener, David Warner, on the very first ball of their innings. Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne soon followed Warner back into the pavilion. Steve Smith partnered up for a 50-plus partnership with Travis Head before getting out.

Earlier in the day, South Africa got ALL OUT on 152 in 1st innings after Australian pacers starred at Gabba.

Mitch Starc first took out Dean Elgar for just 3 and then struck again to get rid of Temba Bavuma and Keshav Maharaj. Pat Cummins removed Rassie van der Dussen and Lungi Ngidi. While Scott Boland has sent Sarel Erwee and Khaya Zondo back to the pavilion. Nathan Lyon then got among wickets as he removed Marco Jasen, Kyle Verreynne, and Anrich Nortje. The wicketkeeper-batter smashed a brilliant 64 on a very pacer-friendly pitch.

AUS vs SA Highlights: Pat Cummins takes fifer as Australia beat South Africa by 6 wickets in 2 days in Brisbane Test: Watch Australia vs South Africa HIGHLIGHTS

AUS vs SA LIVE: Australia are in a good mood after crushing the West Indies in the two-match test series, but they are facing a little better squad in South Africa this time. Australia have essentially assured their place in the WTC finals next year, and South Africa are one of the top candidates to make the WTC finals. Australia wouldn’t want to take anything for granted as they have an even tougher series against India coming up.

Insidesport

To have a chance of making it to the WTC final, South Africa must at least win one test in this series. In the current WTC cycle, they have been the standout bowling squad, but their batting has been, to put it mildly, atrocious. If they are to challenge in this series, they will need their captain Dean Elgar to have a strong series. At this time, their batting is inexperienced. For the Proteas, the series will be difficult.

AUS vs SA Pitch Report

The Gabba pitch will be a test for the batsmen. The curators have left a lot of grass on the surface and the seamers will be in for a long haul.  Teams generally bat first owing to the threat of pace and swing. 300 is the average first innings score here.
