India’s Rohan Bopanna created history in the ATP Finals on Wednesday. He, along with his partner Matthew Ebden, defeated Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler 6-4, 6-4. With the win, he became the oldest player to win a match in the history of the tournament. Meanwhile Novak Djokovic suffered a loss against Jannik Sinner.
Third seeds Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden lost just one point on their first serve and saved the one break point as they clinched a victory after 72 minutes in Turin.
This is the Indo-Australia pair’s first win in the tournament. They had earlier losing their opening match to defending champions Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury.
The win has also helped Bopanna and Ebden to keep their hopes of qualifiying for the semifinal alive. They will next face Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski in their final group encounter on Friday.

Jannik Sinner ends Novak Djokovic’s win streak
Jannik Sinner halted Novak Djokovic’s win streak of 19 matches. The Italian defeated the World No.1 with a 7-5 6-7(5) 7-6(2) victory on Tuesday.
In an absorping battle that stretched more than three hours, Sinner seized his chance in the deciding set tiebreak finally to crack Djokovic’s resistance.
“In the second set tiebreak he played a bit better than me but I think I was brave in the big moments. We were both serving very well, I think we both played really, really well,” said Sinner after his win.
With the win, Sinner moves top of the group. However he is not yet guaranteed a semi-final spot as he next faces Holger Rune in his final group encounter on Thursday. Djokovic meanwhile will face Hubert Hurkacz next.
