Asia Cup 2025 to be held in T20 format; Oman and UAE in contention to host

This will be the third Asia Cup that will be played in T20 format, after the 2016 and 2022 events were played in a shorter format.

The Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the T20 format. After the last edition of the event was held in Sri Lanka to prepare for the ODI World Cup 2023, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has decided to play the event in a T20 format for better preparations for the T20 World Cup 2026.

According to Cricbuzz, the upcoming Annual General Meetings of the ACC will decide on the venue and format of the Asia Cup 2025.

The meeting takes place in two days in Bali, Indonesia. As of now, two nations, the United Arab Emirates and Oman are currently in contention for hosting the Asia Cup 2025.

If true, this will be the fifth time that the United Arab Emirates will host the Asia Cup, while Oman will try to grab the rights the event for the first time.
