Asia Cup 2023 Schedule for Bangladesh, Bengal Tigers face Sri Lanka in opener

Since their debut in the Asia Cup in 1986, Bangladesh's national cricket team has yet to lift the coveted trophy. Despite this, they have demonstrated their resilience and progress in the tournament.

After a tumultuous and controversial process, the long-awaited schedule for Asia Cup 2023 has been unveiled, causing a stir in the cricketing world. Bangladesh will kick-start their Asia Cup campaign against Sri Lanka on August 31 in Kandy. In Group B, Bangladesh are alongside Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh’s second Group stage match is against Afghanistan on September 3rd in Lahore.

The much-anticipated Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to commence on August 31, featuring a total of six teams vying for glory. The co-hosting duties for the Continental Cup have been entrusted to Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Recently, the Pakistani Sports Minister made it clear that their national team would not participate in the upcoming ODI World Cup if India did not reciprocate by playing in the Asia Cup held in Pakistan. However, the PCB has now reached an agreement on the suggested hybrid model put forth by the ACC.

Bangladesh’s remarkable journey includes three appearances in the finals, in 2012, 2016, and 2018. As they gear up for the 2023 edition, Bangladesh will undoubtedly have their sights set on making history and securing their maiden Asia Cup title.
