Asia Cup 2023: In an Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting which was held in Dubai on Thursday (October 15), Pakistan has been allowed to host the 2023 Asia Cup. The decision was taken by the ACC which is headed by Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI. As per reports, the decision to host the tournament in Pakistan was apparently unanimous and the tournament will be held only in Pakistan and not on a neutral venue. Asia Cup 2023: ACC decides, Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan, will India play?
This will be the 16th edition of the tournament and it will be played in the ODI format and will follow a T20 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka scheduled for next year. The tournament was originally scheduled to be played last year but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pakistan last hosted the Asia Cup in 2008 in which Sri Lanka turned out to be the champions. Since then PCB has struggled to host ICC events due to security concerns. However, the decision to host Asia Cup in Pakistan must have come as a huge boost to PCB who dealt a major blow when New Zealand abandoned their tour in September citing security alerts.
