Asia Cup 2023: Why PCB is upset with the comments made by ACC President Jay Shah?

  • PCB feels cheated as Jay Shah’s comments have been made unilaterally. Since Pakistan is the host of Asia Cup 2023, they think they should have been informed before.
  • The ACC was formed in 1983 to promote, safeguard and develop the game. PCB think Jay Shah’s harsh stance will have an impact on Pakistan’s visit to India for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
  • As many as more than three ICC events have been planned to be held in India, which also includes the Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2025.
  • PCB though said it has not received any official letter from ACC yet after Jay Shah’s scathing comment.

“The PCB has to date not received any official communication from the ACC on the statement of the ACC President. As such, the PCB has written to the Asian Cricket Council to convene an emergency meeting of its Board as soon as practically possible on this important and sensitive matter.”
