Asia Cup 2022 LIVE: India vs Pakistan LIVE: In what comes as a big setback for Team India, Head Coach Rahul Dravid won’t be with Rohit Sharma & Co for India vs Pakistan match. Instead, VVS Laxman has been named the interim head coach. He has already reached Dubai and has taken charge. Dravid, who tested positive for Covid-19, is on a 7-day self-isolation and will only join the team after he gets clearance from the BCCI Medical team. Follow IND vs PAK LIVE on InsideSport.IN.

“Mr VVS Laxman, Head Cricket, NCA will be the interim Head Coach for Team India (Senior Men) for the upcoming ACC Asia Cup 2022, to be played in the UAE. Mr Laxman, who travelled with the Indian team that played the ODI series in Zimbabwe will oversee the team’s preparation in the absence of Mr Rahul Dravid, who tested positive for COVID-19 before the team’s departure to the UAE. Mr Dravid will join the team once he tests negative and is cleared by the BCCI Medical Team,” the BCCI said in a statement.

However, Rahul Dravid is expected to join the squad ahead of 2nd Super 4 stage. Both India and Pakistan are expected to clash again in the Super 4 on September 4. Dravid is expected to join the team by then.

“He is doing well. There is nothing to worry about Dravid’s condition. But as he has to be in 7-day isolation as per rule, he won’t be available for the league matches. Once he recovers and gets the green signal, he will fly to Dubai and join the squad. We expect him to join by September 2-3 before the Super 4 matches,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

Rahul Dravid COVID Positive: Rahul Dravid was to leave for Dubai on Tuesday from Bengaluru. But as he tested Covid-19 positive in the pre-departure test, he had to stay back home. As per Karnataka government rules, he will stay in a 7-day isolation and will have to return two negative RT-PCR tests before ending the quarantine.

However, unlike players, Rahul Dravid won’t be needing to pass the cardio-vascular test. The BCCI Medical Team mandated the cardiovascular test for all players recovering from Covid-19. Since Dravid isn’t into heavy workload being the coach, he can straight way join the squad after two negative RT-PCR tests.
