To make matters worse, the player has been taking rest despite not been amongst the runs. Hence, there will be great pressure on Kohli during the Asia Cup.
Asia Cup 2022: Former RCB team mate AB de Villiers backs Virat Kohli to come good, says ‘does not need me to tell him importance of working hard in bad patch’The former South African player defended Kohli stating form is temporary and class is permanent. One understands the reason behind such kind of a backing. The former RCB player has seen him from close quarters in the IPL, playing astonishing innings.
They are great friends on and off the field. But de Villiers believes he does not need to tell him about the importance of working hard during the tough times.
“Virat Kohli and I remain in regular contact. We are very good friends and he certainly does not need me to tell him the importance of working hard during a bad patch.” – Ab De Villiers (To NDTV)

“Virat is one of the greatest cricketers ever to play the game. Form is temporary, class is permanent. Virat remains world-class. Virat and I remain in regular contact. We are friends, and he certainly does not need me to tell him the importance of working hard during a bad patch,” de Villiers told NDTV.
Interestingly, the player chose a vacation when out of form. He was given rest in the West Indies and the Zimbabwe series. It would have been interesting if Kohli had featured in both and got back to form and reduce the pressure on the Indian selectors.
The latter is under pressure with the T20 World Cup coming up in Australia in a couple of months’ time. Another failure and it might get a bit trickier for everyone who has been supporting him.
