Chennai Super Kings spinner Ravichandran Ashwin opined that bowlers would soon need to carry personal psychologists with them in the future. His remarks come over the flat pitches on which IPL 2025 matches are being played. Four out of six matches held so far have been high-scoring affairs, with 243 being the highest score so far.
Ashwin on bowlers’ headache in IPL
In a video on his YouTube channel, Ashwin said that bowling has become impossible in the IPL, citing that it wasn’t possible to keep the stumps in play on certain venues. He went on to cite Chahal’s case of how he managed to get away with just singles despite bowling full-tosses to GT’s Sai Sudarshan.
“You said bowlers are becoming defensive. I want to talk about that. I think bowlers will soon have to be accompanied by personal psychologists. I genuinely mean that,” Ashwin said.
“Okay, people say bowlers are becoming defensive. Let that argument stand. But in several instances, bowling has literally become impossible. On certain grounds, you can’t keep the stumps in play. We all thought full tosses were easier to hit when we were young, but on certain surfaces, the ball pitches and comes onto the bat better than a full toss,” he added.
Homecoming for Ashwin
Ashwin is back in the CSK camp after a gap of ten years. In his first match on his return to Chepauk, the Tamil Nadu spinner picked up onw wicket while conceding 31 runs. CSK went on to beat arch-rivals Mumbai Indians by four wickets to win their IPL 2025 opening match. Gaikwad and co. will now take on RCB in their next encounter on Friday.
