Veteran India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who has a reputation for his knowledge about the rules of the game, broke his silence on a mankad-like incident during a Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) game. The incident unfolded during a Dindigul Dragons match against Nellai Royal Kings, where the latter won the match by four wickets.
Ashwin’s epic response after almost-Mankad saga
Ashwin took to social media to point out that he would have remained not out even if the bowler had taken off the bails and went on to share a screenshot of the rule while ridiculing the commentators.
Ashwin gets taste of own medicine?
While batting for the Dindigul Dragons, Ashwin, who is the team’s captain, was issued a warning by the left-arm spinner, Mohan Prasath. During the 15th over, Ashwin was preparing to leave the crease, halted his delivery and conveyed a message to the umpire about the Ashwin’s positioning. Replays later confirmed that Ashwin’s bat was grounded.
Ashwin has been a vocal proponent of running out non-strikers who back up too far, famously executing such a dismissal against Jos Buttler in the Indian Premier League (IPL)
