Ravichandran Ashwin heaped praise on fellow spinner Kuldeep Yadav after India’s mammoth win in the 5th Test. India beat England by an innings and 64 runs in IND vs ENG 5th Test at Dharamshala. While Kuldeep grabbed a fifer in the 1st innings, Ashwin replicated the it in the 2nd innings, propelling the hosts to victory.
Ashwin lauds Kuldeep Yadav’s switches and flow
Ashwin explains how the gauged the surface from the hill end and how it was effectively used by Kuldeep Yadav.
“In the 1st innings, I think when Kuldeep came on from the other side, he was able to utilise it. All in all, I thought the way the ball is coming out of Kuldeep’s hand was unbelievable. Watching a wrist spinner in such flow and the kind of switches he has been able to make through the series and especially over the last 10 months is so happening to see. I can’t be more happy for somebody,” Ashwin tells Sunil Gavaskar after the game.

Fifer partners Ashwin, Kuldeep
Kuldeep Yadav finished the 1st innings of IND vs ENG 5th Test with figures of 5/72. Ashwin ended up bagging four wickets, finishing with 4/51. Playing his 100th Test, Ashwin picked up a five-wicket haul in the 2nd innings, dismantling England single-handedly.
Ashwin magic in Dharamshala
The veteran spinner, who played his 100th Test, quickly got rid of openers Ben Duckett (0) and Zak Crawley (2) in quick succession. Ollie Pope (19) was third England batter to walk back within the first 10 overs as Ashwin struck again.
Ashwin was relentless as he continued to pound misery on the visitors. He got the prized wicket of Ben Stokes (2) at the stroke of lunch. After lunch, he struck once again to complete his 36th fifer in Tests, as he got rid of Ben Foakes (0). Kuldeep Yadav joined Ashwin as he dismissed Jonny Bairstow for 39 runs.
