Australian star injured in BBL day after IPL 2024 auction pick

Australian cricketer suffered an injury in BBL a day after being picked at IPL 2024 Auction in Dubai on Tuesday.

Just a day after being roped in my Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the IPL 2024 Auction for his base price of Rs 1 crore, Australian star Ashton Turner picked up an injury at the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL). The Perth Scorchers’ skipper had to leave the field, clutching his knee after delivering just one ball into his spell against the Hobart Hurricanes at Optus Stadium.

Having secured an IPL contract for the first time since 2019, Turner is hoping that the injury is not serious. Turner, sold for his base price of INR 1 crore, became part of Lucknow Super Giants, where former Australia coach Justin Langer serves as the head coach.

While he had previously played for Rajasthan Royals, he had only accumulated three runs in four matches.

However, within 24 hours of being picked at the auction, he faced Hobart Hurricanes with the Scorchers in a BBL match. Turner, leading the Scorchers, lost the toss.
