The Afghanistan has been one of the best teams to take part in the ICC T20 World Cup. The Afghans will be taking on South Africa in the 1st semi finals of mega tournament. Ahead of the high intensity clash, Ashgar Afghan has revealed how Rashid Khan has been the best captain of the tournament thus far.
“I feel Rashid has been the captain of the tournament. He has led by example. He has been an inspirational captain, a match-winner with the ball, and very effective with the bat,” Ashgar Afghan told PTI.
Ashgar Afghan revealed how the 25-year old skipper has completely changed the dynamics of the team. He claimed that Rashid Khan has been able to extract the best out of his players throughout the tournament. This has made him to deem Rashid as the best captain of the tournament.
“Most importantly, he has been able to get the best out of his players. And this has been one of the major reason of Afghanistan reaching the semis. When I was captain of the Afghan team in 2017, he was the vice-captain and he showed leadership skills then as well,” Afghan added.
Better captain than Rohit Sharma?
Questions will surely be raised if Rashid Khan is compared to Rohit Sharma. The Indian skipper has been miles ahead compared to the other captains in the ICC T20 World Cup. Be it from scoring runs or taking on field match decisions, Rohit has been a class apart.
“If you ask me, what has been the number one reason (behind Afghanistan’s success), I would say this team’s exposure to international cricket and T20 Leagues all over the world throughout the year,” Ashgar Afghan concluded.
While Rashid Khan has done a great job with his side, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma edges ahead given that he controls a team of superstars.
