Ashes Series in Jeopardy – England Players still have questions? It is worth noting that Cricket Australia on Sunday gave a video presentation of the tour plans to ECB and the players. Various media outlets in UK & Australia have reported ‘that this presentation left players with more questions’

According to the statement by ECB, ‘We remain in regular and positive dialogue with Cricket Australia over these arrangements as the picture is constantly evolving,’

‘With health and wellbeing at the forefront, our focus is to ensure the tour can go ahead with conditions for players and management to perform at their best.

‘We will continue talking to our players this week to share the latest information and seek feedback.

What is the issue all about? Why The Ashes still can be derailed?

  • The biggest issue all along has been whether the players’ families will face a hard 14-day quarantine before being allowed to circulate freely.
  • There is also the question of flash lockdowns, with different states in Australia operating under different Covid restrictions.
  • Also doubts remain over how easily England’s players would be able to leave the country in the event of a future lockdown.
  • Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison, recently said there would be ‘no special deals’ and the statement has further made the situation complex.

Ashes Series in Jeopardy? – When the decision will be made? Later this week, the ECB board will meet to decide whether the conditions in place are sufficient for the tour to go ahead and enable the selection of a squad befitting a series of this significance.

England is expected to select a team of 30, including a Lions group. The final decision on whether to tour or not will only be taken by end of this week & till than the much awaited series stay in doubt.
