What came as a huge blunder for England on Day 2 of the ongoing first Ashes Test, Ben Stokes dismissed dangerous David Warner but it ended up as a no-ball. The England talisman almost got the big wicket of Warner to set up the game for England. The latter survived as the decision was overturned as Stokes bowled a big no-ball with feet outside the crease line.
Australia would have lost their second wicket at the score. Warner was only on 17 when he survived dismissal against Ben Stokes. The no-ball could play a big role in the Ashes opener as Warner looks to make the most of it.

Each of Ben Stokes’ first four deliveries should’ve been no-balls, but the TV umpire didn’t call them 🤔

AUS vs ENG LIVE: Ashes 1st Test Day 2
David Warner was bowled out through the gates by the brilliant delivery. Ben Stokes’ timely dismissal could have set up this game nicely in favour of England. Meanwhile, England got bowled out for just 147 runs in their opening innings as they look to end their dry run at the Gabba, Brisbane. England are yet to win a game in Australia in the last 10 tests, they lost 9 games and drawn 1.
Warner is looking for amendments after managing just 95 runs across 5 Tests at an average of 9.5. At home, he had scored 441 runs in 5 Tests @63 average against England during the last Ashes series in England. He will look to make the most of the lifeline against England as Australia aim to post a big score.
“No ball! Can you believe it? Just how big a moment in the game will that be?” Adam Gilchrist said as quoted by Fox Sports.
Allan Border added: “That’s huge right there. We’re talking about someone with impact … Warner is the man and all of a sudden he’s overstepped … who knows how big a moment that’s going to be.”
Meanwhile, Simon Taufel was shocked at the third umpire’s ignorance.
“They are supposed to be checking every ball. I really can’t explain it,” former ICC Elite Umpire Simon Taufel told Channel Seven.
The ICC had first trialled the use of the TV umpire monitoring the front foot no-balls in 2019 and it was used for the first time in Test cricket when England played Pakistan in 2020.
Playing conditions for the World Test Championship clearly state: “The third umpire shall review television replays of the bowler’s front foot landing and, if he/she is satisfied that any of these three conditions have not been met, he/she shall immediately advise the bowler’s end umpire who shall in turn immediately call and signal no-ball.”
Marnus Labuschagne and David Warner ensured that Australia lost just one wicket in the morning session on Day 2 of the ongoing first Ashes Test against England here at the Gabba, Brisbane on Thursday.
