The India cricket team selectors are interested in picking pacer Arshdeep Singh for Tests and may name him in the side potentially for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. As per a Times of India report, the left-handed pacer has been asked to play some matches in the Duleep Trophy to increase the chances of his selection for Tests. If picked, Arshdeep Singh will become the latest addition to India’s all-format players army.
Arshdeep Singh in Tests soon?
As per the report, there is a real chance that Arshdeep Singh could emerge as the trump card for India, along with Jasprit Bumrah in the BGT.
“Arshdeep has moved the ball impressively in white-ball cricket for India. He could be asked to play a few domestic red-ball games, starting with the Duleep Trophy on September 5, to enhance his chances of his selection for the Australia tour,” a source told TOI.
Arshdeep’s Test cricket aspirations
The 25-year-old left-arm pacer spearheaded India’s bowling attack in the T20 World Cup, bagging a tournament-high 17 wickets. Ecstatic after the win, Singh expressed his burning desire to represent India in Test cricket.
