After missing a key catch against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022, the young player was viciously mocked and called a Khalistani. His Wikipedia page was also vandalised. Arshdeep has learned to accept both love and hate, nevertheless, in his stride.
“I love cricket and enjoy my game. The fans love the game and they display their emotion as well. They have the right to get angry and love you as well since we are representing India. It is good that I am receiving the love of the fans now,” Arshdeep Singh told the media ahead of the third and final ODI against New Zealand in Christchurch on Wednesday.

From T20I to ODI cricket, the left-arm bowler transitioned with ease. Tom Latham’s stunning century helped the Kiwis win the first ODI by seven wickets and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, so his ODI debut didn’t quite go as planned. Rain caused the second ODI in Hamilton to be cancelled.
“Is it easy or difficult, you don’t see as a player. We just want to enjoy every moment as a player, you don’t think that you want to be the main bowler, I try to stay in the present,” the 23-year-old speedster said.
When questioned about the adjustments he made when moving from T20 to ODI, Arshdeep remarked: “As a bowler, there is not a lot of difference – I attack at the start and defensive at the end. I follow same in T20 as well.”
