‘Arjuna award is a dream’ Mohammed Shami ecstatic to win prestigious Arjuna Awards 2023

Mohammed Shami claims winning Arjuna Award is like a dream come true for him

India Cricket Team ace pacer Mohammed Shami is set to receive the prestigious Arjuna Award. On the eve of receiving the award, Shami went on to to claim that achieving this mega award is a dream. The ace bowler fells honoured and happy upon receiving the nomination to win the award.

Back in December 2023, the Sports Ministry of India announced that Mohammed Shami is among 26 players set to receive the award. In fact, Shami is the only cricketer in the list of 26 players to get the Arjuna Award in 2023.

“Arjuna award is a dream, life passes and people are not able to win this award. I am happy that I have been nominated for this award,” Mohammed Shami told the ANI.

Mohammed Shami will receive this grand award from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu on 9th January.

Mohammed Shami stole the limelight in the ODI World Cup. He became the highest wicket taker of the tournament after scalping 24 wickets. Shami, who was benched for the first four matches, came back with a bang to bag 24 wickets in the next 7 matches to top the charts and take India to the World Cup finals.

As for the ace pacer, Shami is yet to recover from his ankle injury. He has missing action post the ODI World Cup. Shami failed to be fit for the India tour of South Africa and is expected to miss the opening matches of the IND vs ENG Test series.
