Arjun Tendulkar IPL Debut: Sachin Tendulkar – Legendary India batter & Mumbai Indians mentor Sachin Tendulkar revealed that he has never watched his son Arjun Tendulkar play any competitive match before the southpaw made his IPL debut against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 16. Arjun was handed the debut cap by Rohit Sharma, and the left-arm pacer bowled the first over the match. It was a pretty emotional moment for Sachin to watch his son finally accomplish his dream of playing for MI. Follow IPL 2023 Live Updates with InsideSport.IN.
“This was a new experience for me. Till now, I have not actually gone and watched him play,” Tendulkar said in a video posted on the IPL Twitter handle.

There were obviously butterflies in his stomach of Arjun, but the senior Tendulkar did not want to further put pressure on the 23-year-old. The MI mentor wanted Arjun to express himself, and soak in every moment.
“I just wanted him to have that freedom to go out and express himself whatever he wanted to do. And today also I sat in the dressing room because I didn’t want him to let him move away from his plans and start looking at the mega screen here and suddenly realized that I was watching there. I was inside,” Sachin said.

Sachin also wished Arjun best of luck for his debut IPL game on Instagram. Like a true father, the MI mentor told his son to continue to put in the hard yards and trust the process. Sachin and Arjun became the first father-son duo to play that too for the same franchise.
Arjun, today you have taken another important step in your journey as a cricketer. As your father, someone who loves you and is passionate about the game, I know you will continue to give the game the respect it deserves and the game will love you back. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/a0SVVW7EhT

Sachin Tendulkar on Arjun playing for MI
“It’s a different feeling because 2008 was the first season for me and 16 years down the line, he plays for the same team. Not bad,” added Tendulkar Sr.
Arjun bowled two overs and gave away 17 runs. The left-arm pacer managed to get some swing and looked confident in his debut IPL game. Arjun revealed it was nice to make debut for MI, a franchise he has been rooting since 2008.
“It was a great moment, special to play for them I have supported since 2008, and it was very nice to get the cap from MI and the Indian team,” said Arjun.
