Archer’s ripping in-swinger shows what England is missing in India Tests

Jofra Archer had last played for England in a T20I against Bangladesh in Mirpur in March 2023.

England fast bowler Jofra Archer might finally be on a comeback trail, after staying away from competitive cricket for close to a year. Currently recovering from a recurring elbow injury, Archer has been under the strict eyes of the ECB, so that he can soon make a comeback for the national side.

After playing his last in IPL 2023, Archer was seen in action in the County Cricket’s second division, where he looked in supreme rhythm. In a recent video posted on X, Archer just bamboozled the batsman with his prodigious swing.

Though it looked like he wasn’t bowling at full tilt yet, it was enough to trouble the batsmen. In fact, had Archer been fit, he would have been a handful in the IND vs ENG series, where England pacers, including James Anderson, haven’t been the most effective till now.

Out of IPL 2024

Despite looking fit, Archer won’t play the IPL 2024 to manage hos injury issues. Even last year, he had to leave the tournament midway due to the same injury. For a major portion of the last three years, Archer, due to his elbow issues, has managed to play a handful of matches for the English side.

Having started his international career in 2019, the 28-year-old has played 13 Tests picking up 42 wickets. In 21 ODIs he has 42 wickets, and in 15 T20Is, he has 18 scalps. He also played a crucial role in England lifting the 2019 World Cup.
