Jofra Archer has been ruled out of England’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka as well as the Indian Premier League 2020 after scans confirmed a low-grade stress fracture of the right elbow that will keep him out of action for about three months.

On its official website, the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed that Archer, who plays for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, will also miss England’s Test tour of Sri Lanka.

The 24-year-old fast bowler sustained a bone stress injury to his right elbow in England’s opening Test against South Africa at Centurion last month and was ruled out of the final three matches of a series that England won 3-1.

“Archer underwent further scans on his injured right elbow yesterday in the UK which confirmed a low-grade stress fracture,” said the ECB.
ECB also added, “He will now commence an injury rehabilitation programme with the ECB medical team with a view to be ready for the international summer campaign starting in June against West Indies in a three-match Test series”.

England are scheduled to tour Sri Lanka in early March for two Tests, with the IPL beginning later in the same month. Archer is part of the Rajasthan Royals franchise, who had retained him for this season but may now find themselves hunting for a replacement.
