The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) welcomes a new team, the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, taking flight just in time for the 2024 season. The Falcons replace the Jamaica Tallawahs, who exited the league after the 2023 season.
Falcons take up nest in Antigua and Barbuda:
Unveiled at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, the Falcons’ home ground, the team marks Antigua’s return to the CPL after a 10-year absence. The franchise is owned by Worldwide Sports Management Group, led by Florida-based businessman Kris Persaud.
New Team, Big Dreams:
Persaud promises a “unique energy” and a “winner’s culture” for the Falcons, both on and off the field. The team aims to soar high and establish itself as a force to be reckoned with in the league.
Jamaica not out for good:
While the Tallawahs may be gone for now, CPL remains committed to Jamaica. They plan to bring back a Jamaican team, potentially expanding the league to seven teams by 2025.
CPL Takes Off for Another Exciting Season:
The 2024 season kicks off on August 28th and runs until October 6th. Matches will be played across the Caribbean, with Antigua hosting games for the first time since 2014. The final, as always, will be held in Guyana at the National Stadium in Providence.
New chapter, soaring ambitions, and a return to Caribbean soil – the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons are ready to make their mark on the CPL.
