Anshuman Gaekwad loses battle against cancer, passes away at 71

Anshuman Gaikwad is a decorated Indian player who ended his first-class career on a winning note by scoring a century in his final match.

Former Indian cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad passed away at the age of 71 on Wednesday. Gaekwad was battling blood cancer for nearly a year now and was getting his treatment in London before returning to India a month ago.

Earlier, the BCCI had released an amount of Rs 1cr to assist the cricketer after many former cricketers united to raise the demand to provide Gaekwad aid for his treatment.

Gaekwad Coached Indian and Kenyan Team

Post-retirement, Gaekwad turned into a coach, serving as the head coach of the Indian cricket team from 2000 to 2001 and leading the Kenyan cricket team during the 1999 World Cup.
